But what do I wear?
At Island School of Performing Arts, we promote a class dress code. So why is a dance class dress code so important?
A dance class dress code helps a dancer understand they are going to a structured class (compared to unstructured playtime). When dancers put on their dance class uniform, they get into a specific mindset before dance class.
Ensures that the clothing is not a distraction during class.
Ensures that the dancer is appropriately dressed. In order for our instructors to see created lines, correct body placements and use of musculature, a proper dance class leotard and tights code must be maintained.
Our dance classes are leveled based on the dancer's age and skill level.
Ensures that each dancer has the same brand, style and color of shoes and tights for on stage performances.
Dancers will work harder and maintain their class focus when they are dressed uniformly and not fidgeting with their dance wear.
All hair must be in a bun.
Please provide a dance bag for dance shoes and accessories for your dancer to bring to and from class.
DANCE SHOES SHOULD NEVER BEEN WORN OUTSIDE OF THE STUDIO ON SIDEWALKS OR ASPHALT. THIS WILL RUIN THE SOLES OF THE SHOES.
All students wearing dance wear entering & exiting the studio MUST WEAR cover ups.
Place you child's name in all shoes.
